Join the programPlant Squalane
Squalane is a stable derivative of squalene, one of the main components of the sebum produced by our skin. Its similar molecular structure makes it an active ingredient with excellent affinity with the skin's hydrolipidic film .
Synthesized by sebaceous glands, it can be found in plants, yeasts and microalgae. Squalane gets its name from its first discovery in the liver of a shark (squalus mitsukurii), but today, biotechnological advances allow the production of plant-based squalane in sufficient volumes for use in the cosmetics industry.
The plant squalane used by myBlend in its emollient treatment (INCI name: suqalane) is obtained by biotechnology from fermented sugar cane.
